API key (BYOK)
MeetGist is bring-your-own-key: transcription and notes call your own AI provider, so your audio only ever goes to a service you control. Keys are stored in your macOS Keychain.
Add a key
- Open MeetGist → Settings → AI Provider.
- There are two slots — Transcription (audio → text) and Notes (text → minutes & summary). Pick a provider for each; you can use the same one for both (Gemini does both).
- Click Get a key ↗ to open the provider’s key page, create a key, and paste it into the API key field. It’s saved to the Keychain.
Gemini is the default and has a free tier — grab a key at aistudio.google.com/apikey.
Other providers
Built-in presets include OpenAI, Groq, DeepSeek, Moonshot · Kimi, and xAI · Grok — or add a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Each provider keeps its own key.
Where notes are saved
Settings → General → output folder (default ~/Documents/meetgist). Point it at
an iCloud or Dropbox folder to sync your meetings across devices.
